Sheikh Mohammed’s visit was welcomed as an honour by the company’s CEO
The revered King of Dubai frequently attends important events or gatherings. But in the local hypermarket? It would be a memorable day. And earlier this week, precisely that occurred.
His Highness Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, was spotted in the city visiting a Geant supermarket.
Sheikh Mohammed can be seen visiting the Al Khawaneej location of the store and strolling past shelves of bottled juices, almonds, and bread in pictures shared on social media. Deputy Chairman and CEO of global wellness company GMG Mohammed A. Baker described the UAE Vice President’s visit as a “honour” on Twitter.
A video of the visit has been shared widely on social media. You can see Sheikh Mohammed in it wandering along the fruit aisle and even pausing to take a quick glance at the counter.
The Dubai Ruler has previously been spotted shopping in the city’s retail stores. A popular video of His Highness visiting a Union Coop supermarket in April of last year shows him inspecting the prices and inventory. He stunned locals with an unannounced visit to another grocery store the year before.
Supermarkets all around the nation are actively preparing for the holy month, with a number of establishments advertising big discounts in honour of Ramadan.
