The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has announced that the United Arab Emirates who have a normal passport can travel to Japan without the need to obtain a visa. UAE passport holders can stay in Japan for 30 days for each visit for the purpose of tourism or work, starting on November 1, 2022, without the need to submit an application at the Japanese Embassy in Abu Dhabi, or apply for exemption or any fee.
The Ministry stated that the admission requirements for Japan are still applicable, with at least six months of confirming passport validity, providing a negative covid-19 PCR test result taken 72 hours before departure, or providing a certificate that the traveller has taken three dose vaccinations approved in Japan.
Secretary Khalid Abdullah Belhoul, under the Ministry of Foreign and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, concludes that the decision to exclude the United Arab Emirates from previous entry visas reflects the depth of cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and Japan as the two countries celebrate 50 years of diplomatic relations.
Belhoul noted that the agreement would promote tourism and cultural exchange and support new opportunities in business, trade and investment.
The agreement was signed by a comprehensive strategic partnership between the United Arab Emirates and Japan and was signed by Industry and Advanced Technology Minister Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jafar and Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi.
The comprehensive strategic partnership aims to strengthen relations between the two countries to serve common interests by promoting additional diplomatic, economic, political, trade and investment cooperation.
The UAE is the tenth largest trading partner in the world and belongs to over 340 Japanese companies that run in various sectors.
